H-1B1 Visas: Fast-Track Visas For Singapore Or Chilean Specialty Workers
Treaties between the United States and Chile and Singapore provide for a special type of visa for nonimmigrant professionals from Chile and Singapore called the H-1B1 visa. Our immigration attorneys at Wilson Law Group in Minneapolis assist eligible professionals with petitions for H-1B1 visas.
What Are H-1B1 Visas?
Similar to the more commonly known H-1B category, the H-1B1 visa is for individuals in a “specialty occupation” that requires both of the following:
- Theoretical and practical application of a body of specialized knowledge
- Attainment of a bachelor’s degree or higher in the specific specialty (or equivalent) as a minimum for entry into the occupation
- Employers must file a Labor Condition Application (LCA) with the U.S. Department of Labor, which requires a prevailing wage determination
The validity period of the H-1B1 cannot exceed the validity period of the LCA. There are only a certain number of visas available each year under this category. For Chile, the numerical limit is 1,400. For Singapore, the limit is 5,400.
Our team at Wilson Law Group has years of experience with all types of temporary employment-based visas for nonimmigrant specialty employees and employees who are interested in permanent resident status and obtaining a green card. Our lawyers can assess your employment situation to discuss whether the H-1B1 visa is suitable for you or your company.
